Not All Cops Are Bad -- Your Point?

The issue isn't whether all cops are bad. The problem is the ones that are. And there are far too many.

Apologists are always so quick to inappropriately change the subject while ignoring the root cause of  disdain and disgust. It's as if there suddenly ceases to exist any forms of police misconduct.

Saying "all cops aren't bad" as a reaction to documented cases of brutality and excessive force is more inappropriate than you might realize. Particularly when you quickly gloss over damage done and present human suffering caused by cops behaving badly.. It's just bad  timing.

If I'd just gotten bitten from a venomous snake and I lay there writhing in pain, fearing for the future, in fear of my life, do you really think that would be the best time to point out that not all snakes are venomous? Or that you've had plenty of encounters with snakes where nothing happened?

These may be factually accurate statements, but is the timing of their utterance tactful or respectful?

We know not all snakes bite either. But tell me, how is that relevant to the present suffering? How does that remedy the current problem of having actually been bit by a snake and being placed in danger of death? Not just any snake, but the kind who's venom has a lethal track record.

How about as I lay there in pain you decide lecture me about if I'd only followed the instructions of the snake or showed him respect I wouldn't be in my predicament?
Of course you weren't present when the attack took place, but you assume I did something to cause it, removing all blame and responsibility from the snake, the once who did the attacking in the first place.

Back to the current situation? What have you to say about out of control police misconduct, brutality and excessive force? Ignore it and hope the problem corrects itself? Or acknowledge that the snake that bit me is still loose out there and if not caught, will likely bite again? If there's one displaying this sort of behavior, is it so outlandish to assume there may be more where it came from?

So are all cops bad? The answer to that question is actually irrelevant to the realities we're faced with everyday. Because whether all are bad or not, there's enough destruction being caused to the community by the ones that are.

This is a problem. A very big problem. One needing to be addressed. Immediately.

Rather than spending time debating the answer, or going out of your way to declare "not all cops are bad,"you should join in the effort to sound the alarm about the deadly venomous snakes in our midst, and take part in the effort to eradicate them from our immediate habitat. Our very survival depends on it.

For Creep Cops Excuses Abound

Early draft written and posted via Smartphone
________________________________________________________________

By A.F. James MacArthur

"There's nothing I hate more than a dirty cop." I remember those words well. As I sat in my chair at the police academy, the instructor from internal affairs said this with such a serious tone we knew he meant business. The class was about integrity and professional behavior.

That was a couple decades ago. Looking back through the years as I've gone to battle against bad and crooked cops, and even fought for and assisted honest hard working ones, a few things jump out at me.

No matter how egregious the offense, no matter how brutal the act, despite having ample evidence, there will always be some who instinctively play devil's advocate for cops behaving badly. Some make blatant excuses, while others attempt to downplay and minimize brutal behavior. I've heard many variations of excuses offered, but after a while the theme of a repeating pattern starts to emerge.

One of my favorites is: like any organization, you're gonna have good people and bad people working there. This is typically said to downplay allegations of systematic misconduct on a police force.

Really? So this is a reason not to demand a higher stand of professional conduct from those sworn to protect and serve?

Let's analyse this a moment. If I go to McDonald's and the guy in the kitchen is having a bad day, I might get soggy fries, or maybe my burger may be missing a pickle. When a cop is having a bad day, its a different story.

Police behaving badly leads to folks being hurt. People become victims of unnecessary force. Inncocent citizens are sent to jail with flimsy or fabricated probable cause. Evidence is manufactured. In extreme cases, people lose their lives.

This is no small or trivial matter. Few occupational positions in our society gives one single individual so much power and authority to royally ruin someone's day, merely on a whim if they please.

From the brutal Nazi oppression towards the Jews in the second World War, to the disproportionate minority victims of rampant abuse in the war on the streets of modern American cities, its easy to pretend its not happening when its not happening to you. When its never happened to anyone you know, and when you simply don't want to believe such a thing could take place.

Choosing not to believe abuse runs rampant and continually making excuses does not change the realitiy of incidents actually taking place. To those falling victim, the ever present cell phone camera and other modern recording devices coupled with the speed of the internet has proven to be a much needed game changer.

All the low down dirty cops out there should just know this; like the theme of the once popular TV show "Cops," the bad boys they're coming for just could be you. What you gonna do?

In a future article, we'll look more into how modern technology in the hands of citizens has dramatically changed the way police brutality and misconduct investigations take place. Feel free to comment and give feedback on this piece.

My Thoughts (CONDENSED) On The Arrest Of Dr. Henry Louis Gates

While I agree the situation may indeed not have been about race, there is still no doubt to me that Dr. Gates DID NOT commit a crime, and SHOULD NOT have been arrested, PERIOD! A free society cannot tolerate an environment where law enforcement is arresting citizens merely for being insulted. What about freedom of speech?

People hurl insults at each other everyday, but does this rise to the level of criminality? Is a law truly violated because your ego was bruised? I call your attention to the generic job category; LAW ENFORCEMENT, was Sgt. Crowley truly enforcing the law, perhaps to the letter, but certainly not the spirit of the law.

A bruised ego is not justification to take the major step of placing someone in custody. Having been a patrolman, plain clothes agent, and intelligence operator, I for one know that you don't go around arresting law abiding citizens in their own homes just because they pissed you off. Sometimes you gotta just smile, wave, and remove yourself from the situation. Sgt. Crowley is about to learn it's not worth it to unnecessarily engage with a citizen to escalate a situation that no longer called for police intervention.

I've been to Cambridge, MA. It's a rather small city. You would think a resident such as Gates who lived in the same dwelling for 15 years (probably longer than the dummy who called the police) has been there long enough for a cop to easily and quickly verify the call was a false alarm.

Lastly, I have to ask, why would an officer enter a home suspected of having two burglars, by himself, without being accompanied by back up?

ABUSE: MD Cops Savagely Beat Man! **VIDEO**

"Don't kill me, please," he said. "I didn't do nothing." -- Rafael Rodriguez, police brutality victim begging for his life as he's savagely beaten

Officers John Wynkoop and Scott Wilson, I hope you meet the miserable fate your destiny awaits, real soon.

Again we have yet ANOTHER case of police officers abusing their power and authority. How much longer will this continue before we wake up and realize that we have a big problem in this city, in this state, in this country for that matter. Case after case has surfaced, we keep seeing more videos, this goes back all the way to Rodney King, nearly 20 years ago. Yet still, no true reforms, and the creeps who did this get suspended with pay. Go figure. Chinese Democracy, it's here already.

Before the first fool tells me this was Prince George's County and not Baltimore, I have to say, you're an idiot if you don't think this isn't happening here. Having seen it myself, and been a victim of it myself, I know it's real. Keep being in denial, keep empowering evil and abuse.

ABUSE! Traffic Stop Leads To Nurse Strip Search

Abuses continue at Baltimore's Central Booking Jail

And to think I've been called an alarmist when I speak of all the abuses that occur in Baltimore at the hands of public officials, police, sheriff, corrections etc. In this story we learn of yet another example of a problem much wider than anyone in Baltimore city government, or Maryland state is willing to admit.

Traffic Stop Leads To Nurse Strip Search

BAD COPS! Young Girl Brutally Beaten By Police

The video below is sick and disgusting. Think this isn't happening in Baltimore, especially at Central Booking? Think again! This happens everywhere. Of course a video leak to the public is rare. People should be aware of the continued abuse of power and brutality doled out to citizens from the hands of crooked and corrupt cops. Chinese Democracy coming to America...

Commissioner Bealefeld Not In Charge

Sources close to the situation have been revealing details to the Baltimore Spectator over the last several weeks. The claim is Baltimore Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld III, is more of a figurehead puppet than an actual leader. Our sources tell us someone else, a woman (not who you think), is actually in charge of the Baltimore Police Department.

We're attempting to get a response or comment from the Department and the Commissioners office. None received so far.

So who's really running the department anyhow?

Female Cop In Shooting, Overpowered, Lost Gun Before

Are Women Truly Capable Of Police Work?

Disturbing new details emerge about the Baltimore City Police officer,Traci McKissick involved in a fatal shooting last night. Records show she struggled and lost fights with male suspects in the past.

Four years ago, this week, after pulling over a vehicle, a struggle ensued with a male occupant. The man ended up wrestling the gun away from her and even firing a shot. It is seriously questionable as to whether this woman is capable of holding her own on the street.

I'm all for equality, but let's not push people incapable of doing the job just to say we're giving equal opportunity. Public safety is tough work, and not everyone, no matter their sex, is cut out for it. There is a young lady, a firefighter trainee, now dead, that would probably be alive today were it not for this kind of flawed, "progressive" thinking.

Police Shoot Man Dead -- Female Officer Struggled, Lethal Forced Gave Her The Win

According to The Baltimore Sun, a resident called police, telling them that the man had the officer on the ground and was holding her in a head-lock while trying to take her gun. Within minutes, several other officers responded. Police said the female officer was able to retrieve her gun and that it appeared she and another officer shot the man.

Do you think female officers should respond to certain kind of calls alone? Do you think women officers are capable of doing rough and tumble police work?

Comments please?

Baltimore Police Refuse To Arrest Drunk Driver

A Moment With Mencken

To say the Baltimore Police Department has a bad reputation among city residents, is to state the very obvious. Kinda like saying in winter it's cold outside, and sometimes it snows. Or like saying that Governor Martin O'Malley is a two faced, phony jerk, who lied to tax payers more times than even he remembers. Yeah, tell us all something we don't already
know.

On a recent night in the city, a man driving a pickup truck plowed into the back of taxi cab on North Avenue, near Greenmount. The truck was totaled, and the cab also suffered extensive damage. (The Baltimore Spectator obtained photos from the scene)

A supervisor from the taxi company, and Baltimore police were both dispatched to the scene. What happened next should piss off anyone who drives the streets of Charm City.

When Police Refuse To Do Their Job

Accident investigators from the taxi company arrived on scene shortly after the police. Talking to the driver of the truck to gather basic information, the cab company representative detected a strong smell of alcohol on the drivers breath. The representative also noticed the drivers speech was heavily slurred.

When reporting their observations to Officer Ostrander and his partner from the Baltimore Police, company investigators were met with scorn and indifference. "How do you know he's drunk" was the question asked by one cop. Without warning, or conducting their own investigation to determine if a field sobriety test should be conducted, both officers drove away with lights and sirens on. Was it a real call or trying to escape responsibility?

According to Larry Wallace, taxi company supervisor and host of a local talk radio show; at one point the driver of the truck even stumbled on his feet when he tried to get into the pickup truck to get his vehicle registration.

Wallace said the police repeatedly ignored his requests that they check out the driver of the truck a little more closely.

He says the police mostly stood back, allowing the drivers and company reps to exchange information without intervening.

When the police left without so much as issuing a citation to the pick up driver for rear ending the taxicab, 911 was called again. They were told the suspected drunk driver of a truck that caused an accident was still present on scene, and he should probably be checked out. The dispatcher rudely responded saying, the police cannot be told what to do.

In a few minutes, one of the original officers returned to the scene. The officer angrily confronted the company accident investigators asking them what their problem was. He said he heard they called the Maryland State Police and wanted to know why. After a brief exchange of words, the officer drove off without ever getting out of his car, or even evaluating the
suspected drunken driver.

"I can't tell them how to do their jobs, all I can do is report to them what I see," Wallace said in referrence to the lack of response from the officers on the scene. It's as if Officer Ostrander and his partner couldn't be bothered with the paperwork for an arrest. God forbid they would actually make a DUI arrest and in the process, protect and serve the good
people of Baltimore City.

Meanwhile, the driver of the struck taxicab was taken to the emergency room suffering from a severe neck and back pain, and a massive headache. The pickup driver said he was fine (how typical of these drunks that cause wrecks) and was picked up by a friend and driven away.

In Baltimore, like so many other cities, a lot of people in "the hood" don't like the police. They don't trust them. The reasons for this are far ranging. From routine harassment, to the thousands of false "nuisance arrests that have occurred all over this town. But when the police blatantly and deliberately ignore an obvious threat and danger to the general public, this only serves to further degrade the level of public trust. At this point, the reputation of the Baltimore Police couldn't get much lower.

They have nothing to lose, and the trust and cooperation of the citizens to gain. When this happens, then and only then will we see an increase in the closure rate of the many and continuous unsolved homicides and other crimes.

Commissioner Bealafeld should aggressively seek to rout out the handful of rogue, unprofessional, do nothing officers on the force. The few who make the rest look bad. The return on goodwill from the community would be unmatched.
