BALTIMORE - (MINS) Baltimore Police responded Friday night, to the 3400 block of W. Caton Ave., in the St. Joseph Community of West Baltimore, for reports of a man shot in the chest. According to the departments Twitter account, the man died a short while later at an area hospital.
Although not confirmed by officials, the victim is said to be Keith Glascoe, 50.
A person familiar with Glascoe described the incident as a family dispute gone bad. The individual said Glascoe was well known in the area, often performing errands and odd jobs for elderly neighbors. From taking out the trash, and other housework, to making runs to the store, Glascoe was described as someone whose presence will be greatly missed by not just immediate family, but the greater community, as he was relied upon by many.
While on scene The Baltimore Spectator observed investigators going in and out of a single family home on the corner, as officers stood guard immediately outside. Eventually investigators left the house with evidence, including a long object wrapped in brown paper.
As sounds of sorrow from a woman crying inconsolably could be heard coming from inside the house, a small group of possible family and or friends stood outside on the sidewalk while a detective spoke to them taking notes.
The victim appears to have been shot inside the residence. Neighbors said they didn't hear gunshots. At the scene, sounds of a continuous barrage of individual pre-Independence Day fireworks filled the air. It is conceivable that the sound of a gunshot could have easily been missed in between firecracker blasts. A week prior, on 27 June, there was another homicide only a block away. Like this incident, a man was shot in the chest on the 3300 block of W. Caton Ave. .
Police have not named the suspect nor given a motive and state the homicide is still considered an ongoing investigation.
The incident was the second fatal shooting in two days, including the gunning down Thursday, of Nate Wheeler Jr., while he worked at a West Baltimore construction site on N. Fulton Ave. near Druid Hill Park.
Both incidents are notable for persons of interest being taken into custody almost immediately. A highly unusual occurrence in a city where more than half of all murders are never solved.
At both crime scenes, police did not send a spokesperson out to provide details to media reporting from the scene. Also as of Saturday morning, identification of the deceased and suspects involved still haven't been officially released.

UPDATE: 6 JULY 2015: Baltimore police announced two men were arrested for this murder. UPDATE: 1900 EST 3 JULY 2015 Baltimore Police have charged Keyon Jackson, 22, in yesterday's murder of Nate Wheeler Jr.(pictured), 31., court records show. Police still haven't been publicly ID'd Wheeler as the victim. A witness told the Baltimore Spectator suspects were pursued from scene by officers who heard the shots. This led to big commotion in Hampden. Baltimore Police still haven't released any details yet. In November Jackson pleaded guilty to intimidating witness/juror, and was sentenced to 15 years in jail, but 13 years, 6 months were suspended. He was already out on the streets. Information reported by Justin Fenton of the Baltimore Sun contributed heavily to this update.
BALTIMORE - (MINS) Baltimore Police responded to a call for a shooting Thursday afternoon, in the vicinity of the 2200 block of N. Fulton Ave. Responding officers found Nate "Man" Wheeler Jr., 31, shot multiple times. His birthday was the day before. Witnesses tell The Baltimore Spectator, Wheeler had been working on a construction project in an area considered an extension of Druid Hill Park. While operating a Bobcat, a gunman approached and opened fire from extremely close range. An area resident ran to the scene and observed Wheeler barely breathing and clinging to life. By the time authorities arrived, Wheeler was pronounced dead on the scene. Another witness stated he saw Baltimore Police pursuing two individuals immediately after the shooting.
While police were on scene investigating, and with Wheeler's body still present, emotional family members began to arrive. One woman could be heard crying out loud, "why did they have to do this to my brother? He didn't deserve this." Another lady, overcome with grief and emotion had to be treated and transported by a Baltimore Fire Dept. medic unit, after what appeared to be a panic or anxiety attack. Before the scene was cleared, the crowd of onlookers -- with many seeming to be friends and family -- grew to nearly 100 people.
Friends who wished to remain anonymous describe Wheeler as a devoted father, and loving uncle, a source of strength and support for his entire extended family. Wheeler grew up in East Baltimore and is said to have worked for Allied Construction for over 10 years, where he's said to have been a highly valued and committed employee. A motive for the shooting has not been stated.
Medics were called to the scene to assist
with the traumatic impact of the violence on a loved one needing assistance.
Baltimore Police reported detaining two individuals, deemed "persons of interest," a short time after the shooting, but have not released their identity or clarified whether they've been charged. The case is considered an active investigation. Homicide detectives ask anyone with information to call 410-396-2100.

To the world, Baltimore Police brutality is about Freddie Gray. To black people in Baltimore, it's reality everyday.
There will be no #OneBaltimore without once and for all, we all be honest about the destructive, oppressive force that police terror has been in the community. The time to minimize and deflect is over.
Slogans are hashtags are nice, but we need much more than that right now.
As a Baltimore resident, it's certain Douglass knew the deal.
Misplaced priorities, criminally negligent neglect, and even straight up prosecutable fraud are all part of why so much of black Baltimore -- just 45 minutes north of the nations capital -- finds itself in 2015, existing at a standard of living on par with third world countries. For them, there is no American dream, only nightmare.
Things had been really bad for a while. Long before Gray was killed by Baltimore Police, a culture of corruption had permeated this department and had come to resemble more of the norm, a standard operating procedure of oppression, than an exceptional or occasional occurrence.
The truth is, through the years, case after case of inexcusable brutality executed by Baltimore Police had been brought to light. None of this was seen as a need for reform. If it did, it would have happened by now. The response has typically been; do what's needed to quiet it down, change the subject, and make it go away.
Some folks were paid out in settlements, others had their cases dismissed through technicality, but what was lacking in all was true justice. The offending officers mostly remained on the job, many getting promotions, only to continue their reign of terror and worse, train and instruct a new generation of officers to carry out the same.
According to the New York Times:
"The Baltimore riots threw a spotlight on the poverty and isolation of the African-American community where the unrest began last month. The problems were underscored on Friday when the Justice Department, in response to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s request, started an investigation of the Police Department, which has an egregious history of brutality and misconduct.
Other cities are plagued by the same difficulties, but they have proved especially intractable in Baltimore. A new study from Harvard offers evidence that Baltimore is perhaps the worst large city in the country when measured by a child’s chances of escaping poverty.
The city’s racially segregated, deeply poor neighborhoods cast an especially long shadow over the lives of low-income boys. For example, those who grew up in recent decades in Baltimore earn 28 percent less at age 26 than otherwise similar kids who grew up in an average county in the United States.
As shocking as they are, these facts make perfect sense in the context of the century-long assault that Baltimore’s blacks have endured at the hands of local, state and federal policy makers, all of whom worked to quarantine black residents in ghettos, making it difficult even for people of means to move into integrated areas that offered better jobs, schools and lives for their children. This happened in cities all over the country, but the segregationist impulse in Maryland generally was particularly virulent and well-documented in Baltimore, which is now 63 percent black."
Talk Is Cheap
To anyone closely observing, we've seen a mayor and a police commissioner do very little besides talk, when it comes to bringing about real change and desperately needed reform. They both need to go.
Where are the proactive efforts to rout out the cancer before it spreads to the whole body? The deep dysfunction and corruption is real.
Leadership that had everything to do with getting us in this mess in the first place, cannot be entrusted to get us out of it. They wouldn't know how even if they tried.
Talk of #OneBaltimore is sickening when the more crucial part of the conversation, identifying the elements that fractured it in the first place, are left out. It's like a patient telling the doctor he has a bad headache, and the doctor simply saying; here, take this pill, it'll ease your pain. But what is the source of that pain to begin with?
Meanwhile a malignant tumor lay just inside his skull, and with each passing moment its tendrils dig in deeper, and due to lack of proper treatment, eventually totally takes over, resulting in death.. The pill may dull the pain, but the root of it remains.
No physician can find a cure, or bring a remedy, without first identifying the disease. But right now from leadership, we see a rush to jump on a popular bandwagon of "unity" and "healing" while the true diagnosis and extent of the grave illness remains unspoken of. This in itself a dishonest deflection. On the surface it bears the appearance of care and compassion. But in reality, it's the easy way out. All symbolism, no substance.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake has been an elected official in the the City of Baltimore for over 20 years now. Yet you would be hard pressed to find her on the record acknowledging the true depth or severity of the brutality and misconduct in Baltimore Police except for in recent times. Her denial and notorious dismissiveness is criminal in itself. It has aided and abetted the tyranny practiced by this department. Her unwillingness to strongly denounce it, even now, is a form of tacit approval and consent.
At least Police Commissioner Anthony Batts has on more than one occasion been willing to admit that the police department is part of the problem. This is crucial. The mythical mantra of a "few bad apples" is not what we need to hear, when all around it's clear, the problems here are deeply systemic, representing a culture and an environment that's long been giving a pass for lawlessness under the color of law.
We have not heard this mayor come right out, and like Commissioner Batts; say straight up; we (city government and police) have been PART OF the problem.
Even in her reluctant call for a federal Department of Justice investigation, and other public posturing, the mayor has yet to strongly condemn the departments history of brutality and criminality as a whole.
There's a subtle subterfuge taking place.
Despite having paid out millions upon millions over the years for settlements due to the pleathora of lawsuits, the mayor and some of her co-conspiritors of disinformation would prefer you to believe the issues are isolated. They are not.
All the investigations in the world won't change a thing, without first having a fully contrite admission and acknowledgement from city government and its leaders; we've been wrong, we've damaged the community substantially, and now we seek your forgiveness and assistance as we work to move forward in creating a brighter future, and a better Baltimore.

Police Claim "Life Saving Efforts" Performed, Man Dies Anyhow
BATLIMORE -- (MINS) Less than 24 hours after a mysterious crash involving a car being chased by police striking a pedestrian on Greenmount Ave., we now learn of a so called "police in-custody death."
The victim has not yet been identified.
This incident happened Saturday in the 4700 block of Old York Rd., just one block off York Rd./Greenmount Ave., the now infamous Corridor Of Death.
Interestingly, although there's no dispute of the man's death, the police memo is entitled "'Potential' In Custody Death."
Despite claims of police of the man stating he suffered from a "preexisting medical condition," we eagerly await the autopsy report.
Then again, considering how things have gone with other investigations of other "in-custody deaths," namely those of Anthony Anderson, Tyrone West, and 19 year-old George King, it's doubtful whether a full satisfactory explanation may ever be gained by the victims family, or the general public.
The Baltimore Spectator recently shared exclusive video of Baltimore Police hesitant to render aid, when they didn't believe a man suffering from asthma who told them he couldn't breathe.
Once again, special thanks to Baltimore Sun crime and courts reporter Justin Fenton, for putting information out there that few others in media will. And for opening up public police communications no longer provided to The Baltimore Spectator. -

BALTIMORE -- (MINS) A pedestrian was struck Friday nighton Greenmount Ave., reportedly as a result of a police pursuit. But don't expect to see any media reports of it. Again we see Baltimore Police being given a pass by the press.
Although Baltimore Police haven't denied there was a -- possibly unauthorized -- chase, they're also not saying much. They did confirm a pedestrian was injured. Except for giving the time of the incident and confirming the location, no new details were disclosed.
More than 8 hours after the email, Baltimore Police have decided to move on and continue to play the strong silent type.
We're still trying to get to bottom of exactly what happened last night. This picture is a screenshot of Saturday's police briefing email -- that we were taken off the recipient list for -- sent to the media this morning. Our thanks to Justin Fenton for providing it. He'll probably be uninvited to some function as a result.
The ongoing lack of transparency and continued concealment of routine information should greatly concern any citizen. It's not acceptable and taxpayers should not tolerate it. The most basic information has to be begged for and even then, often is still denied. One wonders what else are they hiding?

An elder man went into a full panic and asthma attack while being arrested in the lobby of an emergency room.
In a chaotic video submitted by a Baltimore Spectator #FieldSpotter; while showing no signs of physically resisting, Baltimore Police can be seen struggling to arrest the man.
At one point an officer even instinctively places his hand on his gun, though it remained holstered.
Early on it appears apparent the man is experiencing a panic attack.
The incident happened when the man was brought to Bon Secours Hospital, in West Baltimore for a medical emergency. While at the emergency room, the man claimed a substantial amount of cash was missing from his person and that it may have happened either during the ambulance ride or while at the hospital. Eventually police were called. At some point an active warrant was discovered, prompting the arrest.
Several times the man can be heard telling police he has asthma.
Family members state initially his potentially life threatening condition was ignored by police. They said some officers even accused him of playing games and faking his condition.
Although taking place in a hospital, no medical care is seen being given to the man while he gasps for breath in the lobby, surrounded by officers.
Eventually police are seen administering oxygen to the clearly struggling man.
Police Change Hospital Policy After Controversial Death
He fell into a coma, and remained brain dead for several days before passing away.
Police claimed the teenager was involved in a violent confrontation with hospital security before they arrived to assist.
In the aftermath of the incident, Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts stated he ordered a
policy change, requiring officers responding to calls from a hospital to
not do so unless a supervisor approves.

MESSAGE TO ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT/INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES
To all those who willfully, deliberately and routinely violate the civil rights of law abiding American Citizens; Yes, you're powerful. Sure, you're everywhere. But this is still America, and the Constitution of the United States Of America still reigns supreme as the law of the land. The Baltimore Spectator will vigorously and aggressively defend against any and all attempts at spying and suppression. Let it be known to all that we are already aware of the regular monitoring and shadowing attempts. There is nothing to hide, but cross the line and there will be hell to pay.
In the end, efforts to impinge upon the freedoms of the people will ultimately fail. Some of us may get taken out in the ongoing battle for true and lasting freedom, but as I've said many times before, and will say till the day I die or get taken out by you goons, THERE ARE MORE OF US, THAN THERE ARE OF YOU.
