Police Brutality In America -- Rodney King Remembered -- With Video

Filed by James MacArthur
MACARTHUR INDEPENDENT NEWS SERVICE

Sadly we've had plenty of our own Rodney Kings in Baltimore... ‪Tyrone West‬ ‪ and Anthony Anderson ‪among them. In reality there are far too many to name.

On this day in 1991, once again as in times past, America was forced to face police brutality. 24 years later the question is; how far have we come?

Sometimes it's important to be reminded just how long this mess has been going on. They keep trying to tell you things are changing, but I think reality show us different.

Personally, as a black man living in America, I've shed far too many tears over the years for men I've never met. This land is filled with brutal, corrupt, criminals running things. One day they'll have to answer to the Chief Judge. And with Him there aren't any postponements. They all have their rewards. Their eternal sentence awaits.

ANOTHER ONE! Video Shows Baltimore Cop Slugging Suspect In The Face #MobTown Chronicles

Police Claimed To Be Unaware Of Video Until TV Station Shows Them

MACARTHUR INDEPENDENT NEWS SERVICE

Sometimes in Baltimore it's really hard to keep up with all the shenanigans involving Baltimore police.

WJZ reports the video is the latest in a string of caught-on-camera incidents that have called into question officers’ behavior, including an incident where a cop was caught on camera punching a man near a bus stop.

In fact, a Baltimore Sun investigation recently detailed dozens of cases where the city paid out more than $11 million to settle allegations of police brutality—part of why Police Commissioner Anthony Batts and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake now actively support the introduction of body cameras on all officers so they have more evidence of when police force is justified or crosses the line.
“What, you got probable cause?” the man asked.
“I’m going to ask you to get out of my face,” the officer replied.
“Don’t touch me!” the man replied.
In this video, you see a confrontation between a young man and an officer. Although the young man acted in a manner in which we wouldn't suggest, the officer seems to use way more force than is necessary. By punching the man in the face, the officer escalated the situation to a place it didn't need to go.

Mayor: Body Cameras For Baltimore Police By Years End -- #SeeingIsBelieving

MACARTHUR INDEPENDENT NEWS SERVICE

BALTIMORE -- (MINS) In 2013, Baltimore Police paid $285,000 to consultant to figure out where they've gone astray. In the report the consultant recommended initiating a body camera program.

More than a year has passed and no such program has begun.

In 2014, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake vetoed a bill requiring body cameras for all officers on patrol.

Instead of moving forward with implementing the high paid consultants recommendations, Blake put together a 16-member body camera "task force."

Since the initial recommendation, several incidents of violent police brutality against Baltimore citizens have been caught on cell phone and surveillance cameras. There is evidence the department attempted suppressing the information and delaying it's release to the public.

The Baltimore Sun reports Blake stated “We will have a body camera program — at least a pilot program — in place this year." No dates or time frame was given for when, within the 10 months left of this year, residents could expect to see it.

After officers began wearing body cameras in Rialto, CA, complaints of excessive force against officers were “drastically reduced.”

The task force will release its recommendations Wednesday evening.

ANOTHER ONE! Baltimore Police shoot man, witnesses say he was unarmed

Picture of man killed by police. Internet commenters speculate a gun is shown in the center of photo. Others say, some other object is still in the hands of the deceased man.

Baltimore police shot and killed a man they say fought with police before producing a weapon in an East Baltimore housing project Wednesday night.

Police released few details Wednesday on how the incident began, but Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez said officers chased the man on foot into the 200 block of N. Spring Court, inside the Douglass Homes community, before 7 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital, and police could not immediately confirm his age or identity.

Rodriguez said officers from the department's special enforcement section were in the Douglass Homes area, working on "intelligence" they had gathered that led them to believe a suspect was about to commit a crime near or in a local business. Rodriguez declined to identify the business or describe how far away it was from where the chase ended.

Police pursued the man to the Douglass Homes courtyard, where he fought them as they tried to take him into custody, Rodriguez said. At some point, the man produced a weapon and, fearing for their lives, three officers shot him multiple times, Rodriguez said. No officers were injured, and Rodriguez said a weapon was recovered at the scene. Rodriguez would not say what kind of weapon was recovered.

Witnesses at the scene offered a different version of what happened once the man was inside the Douglass Homes courtyard, with the man holding a cellphone in his hand but not a gun, and the officers beating him while he lay on the ground before he was shot.

Open Season On Citizens/License To Kill

Police involved shootings seem to be on a disturbing upward trend across the nation. Many questionable shootings seem to be getting a pass by officials, while citizens accept without question, the official version of the story, even when independent witnesses contradict it.

A man led police on 60-mile-long, high speed car chase Friday night in the Los Angeles area. The incident
was streamed live, via news helicopter, as the pursuit spanned several cities and at least two counties.

Reaching speeds at times near 100 miles per hour, with a cavalcade of police cars in tow, the suspect maneuvered his car across crowded highways and city streets without collision or impact involving other vehicles.

Feeling Surrounded, Baltimore Spectator Confronts Police Commander

Tyrone West, killed by Baltimore Police.

At the vigil last night for recent in-custody fatality Tyrone West, there was a noticeable, heavy police presence. Many people observing this were quite taken aback.

Candle holding supporters, family and friends gathered on the corner of Kitmore Rd and Kelway Rd.

With uniformed officers all around, in addition to plain clothes units circling in cars, it felt as if Baltimore Police were preparing for something big to go down. Mind you, this was a peaceful vigil, planned to remember a man, who witnesses say was beaten and stomped to death by Baltimore Police.

It should come as no surprise, but I'm not big on looking all around and seeing nothing but blue uniforms.

Neighborhood welcome committee. There were much more than this.
(@BmoreBloc/Baltimore Spectator)
There were lots of murmurings in the crowd about the heavy presence. Some gave glares and stares. Others weren't so subtle, even calling out the police on the mic while addressing supporters attending the vigil. No doubt, Baltimore Police were an unwelcome presence on this street corner. Just last week they'd killed a man on this very spot.

Police are used to people being afraid and intimidated by them. After All, they've proven time and time again they have the power to kill at will, and suffer no repercussions, always finding a way to justify their violent acts.. So for the average citizen, fear of confrontation and contact is not unreasonable at all.

Unfortunately for those employing psychological tactics of intimidation, some of us aren't so easily moved. Instead of guessing and wondering why the hell there were so many police, I decided to step away from the crowd, and as a dutiful investigative journalist, go to the source and just ask.

I'd like to thank my brave team of independent, underground guerrilla journalists, the Certified Bomb Technicians, for coming along to not only document the "interview,' but their presence also ensured Baltimore Police would be on their best behavior. An uncommon occurrence these days.

Below is a raw video clip. A better one is coming, stay tuned for that. The sound isn't that great, but the visuals are priceless. Notice the group of cops on the right, immediately scurrying away from the presence of our cameras. Capt. Johnson on the other hand, being a commander, was somewhat obliged to maintain a professional presence.

Never be afraid to confront your enemy and face your accusers.

Police Kill Man During Traffic Stop -- Official Account Disputed

By A.F. James MacArthur Ph.A.L.
Agitator-In-Chief
@BaltoSpectator

There's been another "in-custody death" of a citizen at the hands of the Baltimore Police Department. If you're unfamiliar, that's what they seem to call it when cops kill an unarmed person. Last time this happened, the independent Office of The Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be homicide. Remember Anthony Anderson?

“...they beat this man to death...”

Of course, Anderson's death being ruled a homicide was an inconvenient fact for Baltimore's State's Attorney Gregg Bernstein. After sitting on his hands for a few months, likely waiting for public uproar to die down, he decided there was no need to charge officers responsible for the killing of this unarmed man.

Never mind the worse offense committed by Anderson the day he died, was trying to run away from police. Apparently this is now a capital crime, punishable by immediate on-sight, summary execution.

Like Thursday's incident, which happened around 8 p.m. in the area of the 1300 block of Kitmore Road, police initially claimed Anderson may have had drugs on him (always a good reason to kill a suspect). They even alleged Anderson swallowed the drugs in an attempt to hide evidence. Eventually, the autopsy found no drugs in Mr. Anderson's system, the police department quietly backed away from this false accusation on a dead man.

Conflicting Reports

On Thursday's incident, police say the yet-to-be-identified man killed, was in a car pulled over for a traffic stop. There were suspected drugs in the car. At some point police attempted to arrest the man. He resisted arrest, and according to Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez, at some point he suffered from “medical distress.”

Numerous eye witnesses told reporters a very different sounding story (listen to audio from one eye witness). They claim the man offered no resistance at all and was kicked, stomped, pepper sprayed and beaten to death.

At this point, considering their poor track record and numerous occurrences of Baltimore Police issuing false reports and generally misleading the public, our bet is with the witnesses on this one.

We're told internal affairs and the homicide investigation unit are on the case.

Thankfully this incident has already garnered significant outrage on social media and is also getting lots of coverage by local news outlets. Heightened public attention and scrutiny should help ensure a full, fair and thorough investigation. We'll see what happens.

BAD BOYS! Baltimore Police Continue Attacks On Citizens With Cameras

By A.F. James MacArthur Ph.A.L.

Am I the only one sick and tired of hearing about the Baltimore Police Department attacking law abiding citizens? How many more lawsuits and accompanying large settlements will it take before we have a mayor and city council that says enough is enough? Leadership starts at the top. Last I checked, the mayor and city council run the city. The police commissioner answers to them.

If the mayor says I need your men to knock it off, and means its, he either does it, or that's his job. Does anyone really believe there's any genuine interest in reforming this force by our city  leaders?

Police Raid Gone Wrong, Columbia, MO SWAT Kills Family Dogs

You heard about the drug raid gone bad on the house of a town Mayor in Prince Georges County, resulting in the shooting of his two friendly family dogs. Similar has happened in Columbia, MD and elsewhere. Now see for yourself the level of police resources, child endangerment and terror wreaked upon private citizens for having a small amount of pot in their house.

Is this really necessary? Is the trauma to the children, the risk of loss of life to the officers and the home dwellers, is it all worth it? What does society gain from these actions? The Spectator wants to know.

What you see here could happen in your town, as the ongoing war on drugs continues.

MESSAGE TO ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT/INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES

To all those who willfully, deliberately and routinely violate the civil rights of law abiding American Citizens; Yes, you're powerful. Sure, you're everywhere. But this is still America, and the Constitution of the United States Of America still reigns supreme as the law of the land. The Baltimore Spectator will vigorously and aggressively defend against any and all attempts at spying and suppression. Let it be known to all that we are already aware of the regular monitoring and shadowing attempts. There is nothing to hide, but cross the line and there will be hell to pay.

In the end, efforts to impinge upon the freedoms of the people will ultimately fail. Some of us may get taken out in the ongoing battle for true and lasting freedom, but as I've said many times before, and will say till the day I die or get taken out by you goons, THERE ARE MORE OF US, THAN THERE ARE OF YOU.
