AGAIN, the team of Larry "The Celebrity" Cab Driver, and James MacArthur cover ANOTHER breaking news story in Baltimore. Rosewood Maryland State Hospital is a mental facility located in Owings Mills, Md. It is scheduled for closure by Governor Martin O'Malley. (Owings Mills, MD) 1900 hrs
Approximately 80 firefighters and 25 pieces of fire apparatus including engines, trucks and ambulances responded to a large fire encompassing several buildings at the Rosewood State Hospital. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities say they are taking a defensive posture to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings or endangering the community at large. The vacant buildings were previously scheduled to be demolished and will be allowed to burn out.
Rosewood State Hospital is a mental health facility scheduled for closure due to cost cutting by Governor Martin O'Malley. The Walter P. Carter center in Baltimore City, another state mental facility is also scheduled to be closed by O'Malley leaving few options for public mental health care in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
