Brian Williams is now legitimately under fire. Unlike his false claim, this time it may actually be lethal.

A big deal is being made about NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams, fabricating first hand combat experience. Apparently he "misremembered" the helicopter he was in taking direct fire. It didn't. Turns out Williams wasn't even anywhere near the incident he's falsely inserted himself into numerous times.

The shameful saga -- which is still unfolding -- should make us wonder about what we see and hear in the news. How many more lies -- yet uncaught -- has the American public been told by Williams and others of his ilk?

In a recent article, The Baltimore Sun media critic, David Zurawik, goes in on Brian Williams. Many others have piled on as well.

We rarely agree with this guy, but on this he's actually spot on!

For years the talking heads on TV have had humongous audiences and dominated the news media landscape. Considered "credible" sources, for a majority of Americans, they were "THE NEWS." They came with a level of accuracy built in and automatically implied. But their lock on this privileged post has began to erode. Their audience is steadily shrinking.

More and more people now seek other alternative, more comprehensive outlets to stay informed. We no longer have to wait for an evening broadcast to know what's going on in the world.

In the long history of the news media in this country, the public has often been fed pablum and propaganda on a daily basis and had no clue. Thank God this is changing.

It's only been relatively recently, with the rise in our ability to rapidly fact check and cross reference claims and assertions, that the average person can now reliably cut through the garbage. There is now a greater chance of learning the truth.

Mainstream media lies to us more than you know. Just this time they were caught.

Can NBC News now have any credibility with Brian Williams as its face?

We're guessing no. Expect Williams to be gone real soon.

Occasional media critic, researcher, independent investigator, and entrepreneur, A.F. James MacArthur is Baltimore's most well known independent journalist contributor. A member of the underground news network for over 20 years. During this time, he's been a frequent subject of attack by government under the guise of law enforcement. Although closely watched and followed, he's often boycotted from being given any credit for his work by mainstream media.

To all those who willfully, deliberately and routinely violate the civil rights of law abiding American Citizens; Yes, you're powerful. Sure, you're everywhere. But this is still America, and the Constitution of the United States Of America still reigns supreme as the law of the land. The Baltimore Spectator will vigorously and aggressively defend against any and all attempts at spying and suppression. Let it be known to all that we are already aware of the regular monitoring and shadowing attempts. There is nothing to hide, but cross the line and there will be hell to pay.

In the end, efforts to impinge upon the freedoms of the people will ultimately fail. Some of us may get taken out in the ongoing battle for true and lasting freedom, but as I've said many times before, and will say till the day I die or get taken out by you goons, THERE ARE MORE OF US, THAN THERE ARE OF YOU.
