PSC TO BGE: STOP! -- Utility Cut-Offs Blocked

In an amazingly bold move made in favor of the public good, the Maryland Public Service Commission, ordered utilities on Wednesday to delay shutting off gas or electricity service at least until a hearing on April 7.

Nearly 84,000 Baltimore Gas & Electric and 43,000 Pepco Holdings Inc. customers face potential cut offs starting April 1. Restrictions meant to protect customers during cold weather months are no longer in effect after that date. BG&E's parent company is Constellation Energy Group.
