A Baltimore Police Officer stands watch beneath a blue light surveillance camera at the scene of a Monday's Pen Lucy shooting that left one man dead.

Baltimore Police say at 7:12 PM Monday, a call came in for a shooting at a neighborhood playground next to the intersection of Old York Rd. and Dumbarton Ave. Responding officers found 38 year old John Woodies, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Up to seven shots were fired according to people in the area at the time of the shooting, who wish to remain anonymous.

A source close to the investigation revealed the street name of the victim as "Seven." Several residents of the area told this reporter they were surprised more murders haven't happened already. The residents speak of ongoing high volume narcotics transactions accompanied by frequent heated disagreements.

One man who lived in the area for the last 40 years pointed up to a Baltimore Police "blue light" surveillance camera and laughed stating "that thing up there ain't worth a damn, all the drug dealing happens right in front of it, people form long lines and buy what they want and this is all out in the open."

Police say currently there are no motives or suspects at this time. The incident marked the 124th homicide in the city this year, and was the third yesterday. Between Sunday and Monday, there were eight shootings in the Baltimore City.
